AN OXFORD man has been banned from internet chat rooms after making a child half his age watch a video of him performing a sex act.

Kieran Hunter, of Gladstone Road, Oxford, pleaded guilty to two charges of causing a child under the age of 13 to watch or look at the indecent video of himself.

The incidents, which both happened in Oxford on July 15, 2016, state both offences involved a 12-year-old and were 'for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification'.

The 24-year-old was given a community order by Oxford Magistrates' Court which means he must undertake rehabilitation treatment to help him stop offending. He must also pay an £85 victim surcharge.

A sexual harm prevention order has also been put in place for five years which bans Hunter from using any device capable of accessing the internet without prior police approval. Any device he does use must contain risk management software.

He is also banned from using any false personas on the internet, and is not allowed to use or create any internet chat forums or apps such as Whatsapp without prior police approval.

Hunter is not allowed to have, or attempt to have, any communication with any person under the age of 16 years, without permission from the parent or legal guardian who must be made aware of his conviction, as well as the police.
