A WOMAN stabbed with a kitchen knife just yards from where families were enjoying St Giles' Fair says she is now too scared to go outside.

The woman was stabbed in the head, arm and shoulder on September 4 last year after a row on social media.

And the victim revealed through her barrister in court that she still feels unsafe and has had nightmares about the ordeal.

In a victim personal statement read out in court yesterday, she said she had since been left 'petrified' of going out.

She said: "I have had nightmares about it.

"When I think about the incident I feel pain in the area of my body where [she] stabbed me.

"I am scared to come home where I should feel safe, I don't feel safe in my own home."

Her attacker Acacia Ricketts, of Pytenry Close, Abingdon, admitted one count of wounding with intent and another of possession of a knife.

In mitigation yesterday defence barrister Harriet Gilchrist said the case reflected how 'horrible' social media can be.

She said: "They became warriors behind screens and it led to the incident that day."
