A HOST of flood warnings and alerts are in place for Cornwall for Sunday evening.

There are warnings out for much of the north coast, from Land's End up to Bude, with Portreath and St Ives said to be "particularly at risk" by the Government's flood information service.

Warnings are also in place for parts of the south coast, including from Land's End to Lizard Point.

In this area, Praa Sands and Porthleven are among the areas listed as being at high risk.

A flood warning is a level up from a flood alert and means that "flooding is expected – immediate action required".

Particularly high spring tides are due this evening, with Portreath, for example, hitting 7.5m.

Porthleven is due to reach around 6m.

Also at risk of flooding are roads including Commercial Road in Penryn, Trefusis Road in Flushing, the A39 at Perranarworthal and the A390 at Tresillian.

The full warning for the south coast says: "Flooding is expected over the evening high tides on Sunday 29 and Monday 30 Sept. The time for this evening's high tide varies along the coast from 6.01pm at Newlyn to 6.48pm at Plymouth.

"High astronomical tides and Force 6 South Westerly winds, combined with offshore wave heights of up to 4m are forecast to cause flooding to properties.

"Expect the weather conditions to increase water levels by around 0.3m higher than forecast tide levels.

"On top of this large waves and spray are likely, so take care near coastal paths and promenades. This may cause localised standing water on roads – do not drive through flood water or waves.

"Locations particularly at risk include Mousehole, Praa Sands, and Porthleven."

The full warning for the north coast reads: "Flooding is expected over the high tide on Sunday evening. High water at Ilfracombe is at 7.24pm. Times of high water will vary along the coast.

"High astronomical tides and Force 5 West North Westerly winds combined with offshore wave heights of up to 3m are forecast to cause flooding to properties.

"Large waves and spray are likely, so take care near coastal paths and promenades. This may cause localised standing water on roads.

"Do not drive through flood water or waves. Locations particularly at risk include St Ives and Portreath.

"Further Flood Warnings are expected through this period of high tides and we are continuing to monitor the situation and will issue updates as necessary."
