The car was photographed yesterday at Wantage Fire Station, Ormond Road, parked across the entrance to the station's garage doors.

A sign is painted on the road next to the car which reads "Keep clear fire station."

One resident said: "What sort of idiot does this?" in response to the photograph posted on Facebook.

Another pointed out that any delay caused by firefighters trying to manouvre around the car could cost lives.

Wantage Fire Station shared the photograph on its Facebook page and asked residents to consider where they parked.

The fire station said: "Can everyone please be aware of where they are parking, We understand that parking is difficult in Wantage but this is not the answer, no matter how urgent.

"If crews needed to get out in an emergency they would have been delayed getting to an incident."
