A CHILD abuser who repeatedly flouted a court order by having contact with children without disclosing his dark past has been jailed.

Michael Catherall-Hosty, of Wytham View, was originally convicted of sex assaults against children in 2012 and 2015.

As part of the 25-year-old's sentence for those crimes he was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

That order included a condition not to have any contact with any child save for specific circumstances.

At Oxford Crown Court yesterday Catherall-Hosty admitted four counts of breaching the order and one of harassment and he was jailed for the repeated breaches.

Outlining the case prosecutor Robert Lindsey said that officers first went to the defendant's registered address in July before being directed to a woman he was spending time with.

Further enquiries revealed that he had not disclosed his previous offending to that woman and that she had a young daughter, putting him in breach of the order.

The court went on to hear that Catherall-Hosty had also had contact with other children via a friend of the woman, further breaching the order.

He also admitted a separate charge yesterday of harassment of a woman with whom he had been in a relationship with.

In mitigation at yesterday's hearing defence barrister Rhianna Fricker said that her client had learning disabilities and had had a difficult childhood.

Sentencing Judge Nigel Daly said: "It seems to me very clearly that you are unable or unwilling to comply with court orders.

"The manner in which you behave, the manner in which you completely ignore court orders means you do present a risk to the public."

He was jailed for a total of 20 months and must pay a victim surcharge.
