TWO BOYS and a man have been charged with the murder of PC Andrew Harper.

The three, all from Reading, had been re-arrested after 100 police officers unleashed dawn raids yesterday morning.

18-year-old Henry Long has been charged with murder alongside two 17-year-old boys who cannot be named for legal reasons.

They have also been charged with conspiracy to steal a quad bike on August 15.

The fourth man arrested in the raids was Thomas King, a 21-year-old, who has now been charged with conspiracy to steal a quad bike.

This morning police were given more time to question the four about the death of PC Andrew Harper who was killed in the line of duty responding to a call of burglary in the village of Sulhamstead.

Chief crown prosecutor Jaswant Narwal, said: "As the investigation into PC Andrew Harper's death continues, the CPS has today authorised Thames Valley Police to charge Henry Long, 18, and two 17-year-old boys with murder and conspiracy to steal a quad bike on 15 August 2019.

"Thomas King, 21, has also been charged with conspiracy to steal a quad bike.

"May I remind all concerned that criminal proceedings against these four defendants are now active and that they have a right to a fair trial.

"It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."

They will appear at Reading Magistrates' Court on Thursday at 10am.

Jed Foster appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on August 20 after being charged with murder after the death of the Abingdon-based police officer.
