CLUBBERS threw shapes on the dance floor for the first time since Christmas to celebrate finding a swish accessible new venue.

StingRay is Oxford's dedicated nightclub for people with disabilities.

The club night, which is run by trustees from Oxfordshire disability campaign group My life My Choice, was set up in 2007 after charity members grew frustrated with the lack of late-night social opportunities in the city and decided to set up their own club.

They used to be based in Plush Lounge and hosted once-a-month club nights but had to find a new venue when the LGBTQ+ friendly venue moved somewhere that was no longer accessible.

Two of the committee members from the charity set out on a mission to hunt for a new venue that was both wheelchair accessible and easy for people to hop on public transport.

The team said they were 'absolutely delighted' when they found the Spirit Bar, which is run by The Bridge, who offered them free use of the space to kick-start the dance parties once again.

Clubber Paul said: “I love the music, the atmosphere and meeting new people."

The next club night will be held at the new venue on October 1.
