South Central Ambulance Service said it sent a crew after receiving a 999 call.
Its staff treated and discharged three patients at the scene with minor injuries, and took two further patients to the John Radcliffe Hospital for further treatment. Their injuries were not serious or life-threatening.
The road was closed in both directions while emergency services made the scene safe, and Oxfordshire County Council urged motorists to find an alternative route.
