A TEENAGE girl was touched and kissed by an unwanted admirer as she walked along a road in Oxford.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses of the sexual assault, which happened in Wood Farm Road in Wood Farm on Friday, August 16.

The force said at about 7pm, the girl was walking along the street when a man approached her, then 'shook her hand and kissed her on the side of her head.'

He continued to walk alongside the girl and placed an arm around her waist, police said.

He then he shook her hand again and attempted to kiss her head again, but the girl pulled away and he kissed her cheek.

The man then left the area.

He is described as having tanned skin, aged between 18 and 22 years old, and was said to be 'tall but under 6ft.'

He was wearing a grey hoody.

Investigating officer PC Bethany Snowdon, of the Investigation Hub in Oxford, said: “I would like to appeal for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

“If you recognise the description of the offender, or you think you may have information about him, please get in touch."

Sexual assault encompasses a wide range of behaviour including unwanted kissing and touching. 

Wood Farm Road is a residential street linking The Slade with Masons Road, but police did not specify exactly where along the stretch the assault took place.
