THOUSANDS will ride motorbikes next month in respect of PC Andrew Harper, who died on duty earlier this month.

The Ride of Respect will see around 3,000 bikers ride from Sulhamstead to Abingdon in late September.

The date and route are not yet confirmed as the organisers are still liaising with the police.

Updates and more details will be posted on the event’s Facebook page—PC Harper Ride of Respect.

Siân Sloper, the chief organiser, said the ride will be ‘epic’.

She said: “We want to bring people together, bring the community together, and show solidarity and support with the police. We, as a community, stand with the police.”

Police officers from across the UK will be joining the ride, including as far away as Scotland, Cornwall and Northern Ireland. Ms Sloper said even police from Belgium are coming.

PC Harper was based at the Abingdon Police Station while Sulhamstead is home to a training centre for Thames Valley Police and where he died.
