RUNNERS across the country are being invited to pay tribute to PC Andrew Harper in their own unique way today.

RaceBest, which runs, coaches and organises races, is inviting people to run a 'virtual race' of 7.605km in memory of the officer, who died near the A4 Bath Road in Berkshire while responding to reports of a burglary on August 15.

The distance is a nod to the 28-year-old's police number of PC7605, with thousands of people from all over the UK already taking part.

One runner, Clare Broome, wrote: "We wore 7605 as our running numbers which got a few people asking what we were running for as we passed them.

"They thought it was a lovely idea when we explained what everyone was doing.

"We decided it would be nice to run past our local police station as part of our route."

The entry fee is £6, with all proceeds going towards the JustGiving page set up following PC Harper's death and UK COPS, a charity that supports the families of police officers and staff who have lost their lives on duty.

Meanwhile, the officer's wife, Lissie Harper, has closed her online shop selling handmade gifts and stationery.

She wrote on Instagram: "I don't know what else to say but to thank you all for your overwhelming support.

"I'm struggling to think of the words, I need time to mend, if that is even possible."
