SLIGHT changes to the way an £8.3m leisure centre in Carterton will look have been submitted to a council.

Amendments to the way the new Carterton Leisure Centre’s planned play park entrance will look, along with changes to its car park have been sent to West Oxfordshire District Council .

Designers have suggested a car parking space is lost – from an extension of 60 – so it will work better with the leisure centre’s new back entrance to its trampoline hall.

Other changes to a staircase and fire exit door have also be proposed.

The leisure centre will be managed by Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL), which runs others owned by West Oxfordshire District Council in Witney and Chipping Norton.

Earlier this year, Buckingham Group Contracting, which is completing the work, said it is hopeful that will be finished in November.

The new leisure centre will include new changing rooms, a four-court badminton sports hall and an indoor trampoline park.

The centre will also have a café, an upgraded gym, a new fitness and spinning studio and a creche.

West Oxfordshire District Council had initially hoped the plan would cost £7.36m when it was first signed off in 2017.

But last year it said costs had spiralled to £8.3m.
