A HORSE that was stranded in muddy ground was rescued by fire crews on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters from Wheatley, Kidlington and Reading were called to a large animal rescue near Tetsworth, near Thame, just after 10am.

Air inflated pathways were used and a specialist cradle via a dedicated rescue vehicle with a crane arm lifted the horse free from the quagmire.

Those responsible for the horse called for a vet who arrived at the scene and confirmed that the horse was rescued without injury.

Watch manager, Mark Keely, from Wheatley, said: "It is always good when we can come to a successful outcome for all involved, and that is created by the teamwork with other specialists and neighbouring fire and rescue services."
