An energetic dance show created to entertain children aged from seven to ten comes to the Oxford Playhouse tomorrow. Mischief, by Theatre Rites and choreographer Arthur Pita, mixes up dance with visual art, playful clowning, puppetry, music and song, as seven leading contemporary dancers create a colourful and unpredictable world guaranteed to fascinate young children.

The world is made of foam - colourful strings of foam - through which the dancers weave and spin as they join Laura on her emotional journey.

Laura is the one who always gets things wrong. While the others turn in one direction, she turns in another. She is always out-of-sync and is, therefore, someone who the children can warm to and perhaps even understand. While this is a very amusing production - upbeat and breathtaking at times - it also contains moments of great sadness.

The coloured foam plays an important part in the show, such that towards the end members of the cast descend from the stage and enter the auditorium carrying a snake of the foam which they invite their young audience to touch, feel and enjoy.

This moving show is being staged at 2pm and 5pm. Tickets can be booked by ringing the Oxford Playhouse box office on (01865) 305 305. MIschief can also be seen at the Wyvern Theatre, Swindon (01793 524481), on November 3 and the Wycombe Swan (01494 512000) on November 20.
