CHILDREN can have tea with the Mad Hatter this summer, thanks to a museum's latest exhibition.

The Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock is inviting visitors to the magical world of Wonderland until September 8, with an interactive display for families.

Guests can travel through the story of Alice in Wonderland for free, from falling down the rabbit hole to playing croquet with flamingoes.

The exhibition opened in June but has been 'hugely popular' since the schools broke up, according to the museum's audience development officer, Lorraine Horne.

She said: "It's got a lovely family-friendly feel. There's nostalgia for adults and children who aren't aware of the story can learn about it."

Run in partnership with The Story Museum Oxford, 'Wonderland: A Wander Through the World of Alice' has proved a hit with all ages.

The museum runs children's activity days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays throughout the holidays, while the display also features a dress belonging to Alice Liddell.

Miss Liddell was a photography subject of Lewis Carroll and long believed to be the person fictional Alice was based on.
