A VOLUNTEER has been given a global award by an armed forces charity.
Phil Caswell, from West Oxfordshire, received the Sir James Gildea Award from HRH Prince Michael of Kent last month, for his work with SSAFA.
Read also: County council raises flag for Armed Forces DayMr Caswell joined the charity's Oxfordshire branch after he was invalided from the RAF, in which he served for more than 30 years.
He has since acted as divisional treasurer, branch IT officer and trained mentor for SSAFA, which helps servicemen and women.
