LINES were to be found in all manner of places this week, from a calming lavender farm in the Cotswolds to Oxford's Westgate centre.

Many Camera Club members used unusual angles to capture our theme.

Oxford Mail:

We especially liked Scott Miller's snap of field from above, with the roads connecting them crossing the landscape.

Taken from below, we also enjoyed Louisa Tucker's image of building in London blending in with the sky thanks to its glass exterior.

YOUR PICS: Good things come in threes

A 360-degree view selfie, meanwhile, was taken by Ian Marriott of him stringing a tennis racket. The snapper's face visible through the strings of the racket.

Oxford Mail:

Strings also featured in a striking close-up photograph of a guitar by Shez McKechnie.

Oxford's architecture appeared in several snaps, with one of our favourites being visitors to the Ashmolean walking down the museum's stairs.

We love the fact the figures are slightly blurred helping to convey a sense of motion.

Oxford Mail:

Lines found further afield were captured by Duncan Becker in a spectacular shot rock strata at the Grand Canyon.

We especially loved how the person in the left of the shot helps emphasise the mammoth scale of the US landmark.

A traditional place to find lines, both a starting line and the markings on a track, was taken by Ian Marriott in his snap of a race about to get underway.

Oxford Mail:

Other interpretations of the theme that stood out included Charlotte Hickman's picture of the traditional school punishment of completing lines, this one repeating the phrase 'I will not speak in class.'

Sharing the image on the Oxford Mail Camera Club Facebook page she wrote: "Who remembers getting given lines for talking in class?", which prompted an outpouring of nostalgia, we particularly enjoyed Ian Taylor's memory of having to write 'I must not become intoxicated by the exuberance of my own verbosity' 500 times.

Oxford Mail:

Next week’s theme is ‘community’ whether that’s means big summer events or the little moments.

This week's winning shot will appear in tomorrow's paper.

Happy snapping!
