Oxford Under 15s made the long wait to play their English Schools' FA Trophy first round tie worthwhile with a 2-0 win over Cheltenham at Court Place Farm.

With Cheltenham failing to arrange the tie in Gloucestershire, the match was eventually switched to Oxford City's ground.

And after the kick-off was delayed with the visitors arriving late, Oxford stamped their authority on the match.

They took the lead midway through the first half when Conor McDonagh curled in a free-kick and a Cheltenham defender, under pressure from Oxford captain Matt Willett, turned the ball into his own net.

Oxford increased their lead early in the second half when Craig Pratley's shot was blocked and TJ Constant followed up to score.

Despite failing to create many more clear-cut chances, Oxford continued to dominate with their defence - well marshalled by Willett - keeping Cheltenham at bay to such an extent that Jordan Blackstock didn't have a save to make.

Now Oxford are away to Redditch in the second round on Saturday, November 3. The prize for the winners is an away tie against Mid Oxon.

Matthew Taylor's second-half brace helped Vale of White Horse Under 11s open their County League account with a 3-1 win over St Albans. Vale of the White Horse took the lead in the seventh minute of the clash at the Oxford Brookes Westminster Institute of Education when Owen Shaw headed a long throw-in across goal for Kieran Cooper to shoot home.

Taylor increased their lead with a glancing header from Jared Jones's corner ten minutes into the second half.

He finished off a superb passing move for his second eight minutes later, before St Albans pulled back a late goal.
