A woman suffered a broken collar bone when she was attacked as she bought food in a late night takeaway.

The 36-year-old was in Best Food 200, in Market Place, Faringdon, when a man walked and launched a volley of verbal abuse.

He followed her outside into Market Place and spat at her so she crossed the road.

He then began punching the woman and she was taken to hospital with a cut lip and broken collar bone.

The attacker is white, in his early twenties, medium build, around 6ft tall, with short brown hair and wearing a light blue shirt.

It happened between 11pm on Saturday, October 6, and 1am the following morning but police only made an appeal for information today.

Dc Will Downey said: "The incident has only just been reported to us because she has been attending doctors' appointments and is in a lot of pain.

"I would ask people to think back to that night and if they saw this man or know who he is, to contact me."
