A MAN led police on a 140mph chase after they tried to stop him while he was on the way to McDonald's.

Chad Marshall caused a 'serious injury' to his passenger when the dramatic early hours police pursuit came to a sudden end in December last year.

The 23-year old of HMP Ranby admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving as well as failing to stop, driving without a licence and without insurance before magistrates.

Prosecutors at his sentencing hearing at Oxford Crown Court yesterday said Marshall had been to a party before the police chase on December 29.

Getting up to leave at 1.40am he decided to drive with one passenger a Seat Leon Cupra to a McDonald's.

He was spotted driving in excess of the 40 mph speed limit in Didcot by a police officer and despite efforts to stop the car Marshall then sped off in the direction of the A34.

In police footage played to the court officers are seen driving at up to 141 mph on the A34 just to try and keep up with Marshall.

Eventually the chase came to an end after Marshall's car 'lost control' and landed in a verge, coming to a halt.

The crash injured both Marshall and his passenger, causing a serious injury to the female passenger's back that required treatment.

The sentencing hearing was adjourned after requests to seek further mitigation from his defence barrister.

Marshall, who is currently serving a two years and eight months jail term for coercive and controlling behaviour, will appear again on August 13.
