THE headteacher of the county's biggest school has wished 'every success' to his replacement.

David Wybron is stepping down from 2,100-pupil Lord Williams's School in Thame, and will be replaced in September by Jon Ryder.

In an end-of-term letter to parents, he said: "I look forward to celebrating examination successes with our students in August and to supporting the Duke of Edinburgh programme next year.

"I would like to wish the new headteacher every success in his new role.

"He is an inspirational person and I know the school will go from strength to strength under his leadership."

Mr Wybron has been vocal about the funding crisis facing schools, and mentioned this in the letter.

He wrote: "There are challenges ahead, not least the scandal of education funding.

"Closer to home, we need to do more as a community to make our environment healthier and I believe our students can take a lead in this work as well-informed and proactive young citizens.

"I want to thank all members of the community who have supported the work of the school in so many ways."

Mr Wybron joined the teaching staff at Lord Williams’s School in 1991, and has been headteacher since 2005.

In an article about his service on the school's website, he said: "I find it hard to believe that I have been at the school for 28 years. I can honestly say that I have loved being a part of Lord Williams's School over this time.

"It has been a great privilege to be headteacher over the last 14 years, to work and spend time with so many wonderful staff and students and to represent this splendid school in the community it serves."

Mike Underwood, chair of governors, added: "David has been an outstanding headteacher and the governors publicly thank him for his tireless work.

"They wish him all the very best for the future and for an enjoyable retirement."
