SCHOOLS in Oxfordshire will officially break up tomorrow for the summer holidays.

Many schools said goodbye to students last week, particularly academies, which have more flexibility in setting term dates.

Several others have scheduled teacher training days (or 'inset days') this week, not requiring pupils to attend.

The last official day of term for state schools in the county is tomorrow, according to the dates set by Oxfordshire County Council.

Most private schools, which do not have to adhere to the same term times, have already broken up for summer.

Motorists can expect quieter morning and evening commutes for the next six weeks, until the new academic year begins in the first week of September.

Many students will return to school for results days - A-Levels on August 15, and GCSEs on August 22.
