AN AIRCRAFT was forced to make an emergency crash into a Cowley school field when pilots lost their height.
A surprised crowd gathered around the makeshift landing strip after the pilots, who were flying as part of a competition, made the unexpected visit.
Pilot Peter Andrews, who was then a member of the Bicester Gliding Club, took to the skies with his co-pilot Robert Davies before they were forced to make the call and land at Cowley St John School when they lost height.
The pair, who escaped injury, were taking part in an Inter-Services Gliding competition when they made an emergency drop in August 1987 on Cricket Road school playing field.
