About 40 children with cerebral palsy have received specialised physiotherapy thanks to an Oxfordshire mother who brought the treatment over from Poland.

Pippa Hoyer Millar discovered Rondo therapy after travelling the world to find care for her daughter Minty, who was born with the condition.

To ensure physiotherapists were on hand to work with the 15-year-old, she invited them over to the UK and set up a clinic called Footsteps at her house in Newington, near Wallingford.

Rondo uses a holistic approach, but the central feature is the use of a web of bungee cords, called a spider.

Ten-year-old twins Olivia and Elizabeth Treadwell have used Rondo therapy at Footsteps. They travel for week-long sessions from their home near Banbury.

Their mother, Lesley Treadwell, said: "Olivia was unable to walk or stand until she was eight.

"I'm convinced that without Footsteps, even with surgery, she wouldn't have made the move to balancing and walking."

Now a second clinic is due to be set up in Warborough church hall.

Mrs Hoyer Millar, who has also set up a charity, said: "We've had a really high success rate and have been so booked up, this will let us treat an extra eight children every week."
