I was interested to read the correspondence about the multi-storey Charter car park at Abingdon.

My husband and I took our four-year-old grandson to the Abbey swimming pool during the summer and decided to park at the multi-storey car park.

We were surprised to discover that some parts were for permit holders only and more space was reserved for doctors.

We eventually found a floor for parents and children, where we parked.

I would have thought that a multi-storey car park would be for all members of the public, not just certain designated areas.

But what struck me about the reply from Richard Farrell, the Vale of White Horse district councillor, was the supreme arrogance displayed - not a hint of an apology for all the distress and inconvenience caused to Miss Hayward's parents.

I suppose the ridiculous title, 'Executive member and portfolio holder', gives him an inflated opinion of himself.

Some show of humility in any other correspondence would not come amiss.
