UPDATE: Police make arrest after 'machete' incident

POLICE have reopened a residential street after an incident believed to have involved a man with a machete.

A man was spotted with a large bladed weapon in Pegasus Road on Oxford's Blackbird Leys estate at about 3pm today [Sunday].

A number of police officers were called to the scene, with dog handlers also attending the incident.

The road was closed off to traffic while officers brought the situation under control.

A photograph sent to the Oxford Mail by a reader at the scene showed a police presence in Pegasus Road.

The road was open by 4.30pm and the incident appeared to be over.

There have been no announcement of arrests or injuries from the force.

A tweet from the Oxford Bus Company reported that their City 5 service was unable to serve Pegasus Road Terminus due to the incident.
