AN ARTIST opens her new exhibition at a historic Oxford pub tomorrow.
Dorothy Megaw's Oxford Gothic display at The Grapes, in George Street, features 13 oil paintings, each set against a city backdrop with an accompanying story.
The Oxford artist began to paint the pictures when her father died, with one creation, May Morning, combining a story about her dad and the famous annual celebration.
She said: “I began to paint these pictures when my father died, and after they were completed I found words tumbling onto the page as readily as the shapes on the canvas.”
Another painting, The Invisible Fish Restaurant in Catte Street, celebrates Gloucester Green market, where Ms Megaw regularly sells her art.
The exhibition runs until July 25.
