RESIDENTS in West Oxfordshire are the most likely to be smokers in the county, according to official statistics.
The Office for National Statistics said 13.7 per cent of people in that district are smokers, compared to 11.6 per cent in Cherwell.
The proportion is lower in South Oxfordshire, where 10.4 per cent of people smoke, and Vale of White Horse, where 9.7 per cent of people do.
The lowest proportion of smokers is found in Oxford, where they make up nine per cent of the population.
Other data shows 26.6 per cent of people in Oxfordshire are ex-smokers; 61.7 per cent of people have never smoked.
