A MAN has been banned from entering Oxford's city centre after committing a string of offences including attacking an emergency worker.

David Lazell, of no fixed abode, is not allowed to enter the city centre for two years as ordered by Oxford Magistrates' Court.

It comes after the 42-year-old appeared in court on June 25 for persistent anti-social behaviour in Oxford.

He was handed the criminal behaviour order which covers the city centre and West Oxford.

Oxford Mail:

Neighbourhood Sergeant Pete Neale based at St Aldates police station said: “This is the culmination of an intensive multi-agency effort involving Oxford City Council, colleagues from within the Problem Solving Team and Domestic Abuse Investigation team, Oxford Central neighbourhood Policing Team and response colleagues.

“None of this would have been possible without the support of local business and members of the community. Anti-social behaviour and crime in Oxford City centre will not be tolerated.”

Lazell was also jailed for 22 weeks for several of the offences including breaching a community protection notice on three occasions, and assaulting an emergency worker who was on duty.

Oxford City councillor Nigel Chapman, cabinet member for safer communities, said: “Oxford City Council is working hard to disrupt anti-social behaviour in the city centre.

"As part of these efforts we continue to work with partner agencies to offer and signpost people to service to help support those in need.

"Criminal Behaviour Orders are used as a last resort to help tackle behaviour that harms our communities.

"I would like to thank Thames Valley Police and Cherwell District Council for their support with this prosecution. I hope that David uses this opportunity to get the help and support he needs."
