FORTY-SIX Stagecoach in Oxfordshire bus drivers collectively lost 23 stone and five pounds in weight in a company-wide challenge to improve health and fitness.

The total starting weight for the 46 participants across the company’s Oxfordshire depots was 777 stone and 10 pounds. After the 12-week challenge, which started earlier this year, they weighed in at 754 stone and five pounds.

Chris Bishop, a Stagecoach bus driver from the Banbury depot, was crowned the ‘Biggest Loser’ for Oxfordshire and won £150 worth of Westgate vouchers after shedding a total of two stone and two pounds - equivalent to 14 bags of sugar.

Fellow drivers, Victoria Crichton also from Banbury and Nigel Friend, an Oxford Tube driver, were named runners up after each losing a stone and five pounds. They both took home a Joe Wicks cook book and wok.

The challenge raised £1,554 for hospice Helen & Douglas House with the concept being ‘lose pounds to give pounds’.

Stagecoach in Oxfordshire managing director Chris Coleman, said: “In the past few months we’ve offered health checks at our depot, have nominated health and wellbeing champions and introduced some healthy eating initiatives in our Oxford office. It’s great to see our staff taking action to improve their health.
