A WITNEY primary school has received an £800 cash boost from a housebuilder.

Witney Community Primary School was given the money by Persimmon Homes Wessex's Community Champions scheme.

It will be used to install playground games for pupils to use at break and lunchtimes.

Laura Hoskin, the school's business manager, said: “The funding will transform our outdoor space, we will look to include traditional playground games such as hopscotch and snakes and ladders as well as educational game mazes.

“Our playground area is in desperate need of a makeover, last year the friends of the school supported the purchase of large play equipment, but the inclusion of these playground games will bring life and energy to our outdoor space, whilst also helping to encourage children to be more active.”

Persimmon is part of the consortium of housebuilders constructing the 1,000-home West Witney development.
