POLICE have launched a witness appeal after a schoolgirl was hit by a car near Oxford.

The 12-year-old girl suffered serious arm and leg injuries in the collision, which happened on Cumnor Hill just before 4pm on Friday.

Today Thames Valley Police confirmed no arrests had been made in relation to the collision.

The force said the girl was taken to hospital in a 'serious but non life-threatening condition.'

The car involved was a Honda and the force has now asked any witnesses, or anyone who has dash-cam footage of what happened, to call 101 quoting reference 987 (21/6).

Police partially closed the road following the incident, which happened close to the Chawley Lane junction, and the air ambulance landed in a nearby field.

South Central Ambulance Service said the girl had also sustained facial injuries, and was taken to hospital by road ambulance.
