AN Oxford petrol garage has been the scene of another climate protest.

Greenpeace supporters joined with groups nationwide visiting BP garages to tell the company to 'immediately stop drilling new oil wells and either switch entirely to renewable energy or wind down the company'.

Oxford Mail:

The forecourt visit to the station in Cherwell Drive, near Marston, on Saturday came as Greenpeace continues to block BP’s attempts to send an oil rig to drill a new well in a major North Sea oil field.

Steve Ball, from Chipping Norton, said: "We are in a climate emergency. We already have more oil than we can afford to burn - drilling for more will cause catastrophic climate change, threatening the lives of people here in Oxfordshire and around the world.

"We’re already starting to see the likely impact here, with more extreme flooding and declining bird and insect populations."
