TWO Oxford Christians will join thousands of climate campaigners in a mass meeting outside Parliament next Wednesday, when numerous MPs are set to meet constituents.

Headington's Maggie Guy and Claire Harvey, from Catholic development charity CAFOD, hope Oxford East MP Anneliese Dodds will join the conversation and agree to meet them in London.

The pair plan to join the 'climate pilgrimage', which includes school children through to retirees. Supporters of hundreds of organisations, including the CAFOD, will unite on the day to call on the government to take urgent action on the climate crisis.

Ms Guy explained: "Climate change is the most important issue affecting our planet, which should be uniting rather than dividing us. Inspired by Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’, CAFOD’s encouragement to be involved is a wake up call to us all."

Ms Harvey added: "My generation has let down the young people of today and future generations by failing to take the climate emergency seriously.

"I’ve been inspired by my teenager to finally take action. My 15-year-old attends climate change protests, goes litter picking each weekend, and has made me more aware of the large amount of single use plastics we buy. Taking part is the least I can do."

Organisers say coaches are travelling to the event from every diocese in England and Wales.
