WANTAGE'S Ladies Football is set to host an international tournament this month.
With England Women’s team competing in the World Cup in France, Wantage Town Football Club will be hosting its own event on Sunday, June, 30, when they are set to play host to a teams from Germany and France.
Through the Wantage Twinning Association, German side SV Engelade-Bilderlahe will representing Wantage’s twin town Seesen in Lower Saxony, while the French team Section Régionale Foot Féminin Carpentras hail from the Côte d'Azur region, representing Carpentras - which is also twinned with Seesen.
The two teams arrive on 28th June and will spend the Saturday exploring Wantage and the surrounding area followed by a social event with the Wantage players at the club in the evening.
Then, on the Sunday, the tournament will see Wantage compete, alongside teams representing Swindon, Reading, Marlborough and Newbury.
The Wantage team was re-formed in 2015, seven years after the previous ladies team folded.

Last summer the team travelled to Carpentras for a similar visit, whilst it will be the turn of Seesen to host in 2020.
