POLICE have confirmed that the body found in woodland yesterday is believed to be that of a missing Oxford man.
The force said today that, although formal identification has not yet taken place, they believe the deceased person is Adam Stanmore who has been missing for more than three weeks.
His family have been informed and are being supported by officers.
Detective Inspector James Senior, of Force CID based at Oxford, said: “Sadly, officers located the body of a man which is believed to be Mr Stanmore, and his next of kin are aware.
“The thoughts of Thames Valley Police are with Mr Stanmore’s family at this difficult time.”
Mr Stanmore, 37, was last seen on Saturday, May 18, at around 10.50pm in Horspath Road.
He was not reported missing to Thames Valley Police until Wednesday, May 22.
Earlier this week, officers were focussing their search on an area of Shotover Park which borders the Eastern Bypass road.
Yesterday they found the body in woodland off Grenoble Road, Greater Leys.
The death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.
