A 'NO parking' zone set up around a building site is being patrolled twice a day, according to a developer.

Unite Students has responded after complaints about the conduct of contractors building its new student village in Cowley.

Residents are unhappy that those working on the site have been spotted using streets that are supposed to be off-limits to park their vehicles.

Candice Macdonald, spokeswoman for Unite Students, said the company and construction firm The RG Group are doing all they can to enforce the ban.

She said: "A parking exclusion zone is in place around the site, which is patrolled by marshalls twice a day, every day.

"Contractors have been told they cannot park in surrounding roads, and some have actually been excluded from site for doing so.

"RG has also kept residents informed via regular newsletters. They also litter pick in the area, and as part of their commitment to the local community, have been working at a local school and church, building fences and digging ponds."

Residents fear some of the cars are blocking access to emergency services vehicles.
