A MAN accused of trying to start a fire at Shush Nightclub in Wantage has elected to face a trial by jury.

Michael Day, of Mill Street, Wantage, appeared at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

His appearance was in connection with an alleged incident of attempted arson at the Newbury Street club on April 28.

The 37-year old pleaded not guilty to attempted arson with intent to endanger life, attempted arson reckless as to whether life is endangered, and having an article with intent to damage or destroy property.

His trial - expected to last up to four days - will take place on February 10.
