TRAFFIC was delayed and turned around on the A34 on Thursday after two lorries were involved in a crash with a van northbound near Kidlington.

UPDATE: Two hurt, one in hospital

According to the Oxford Mail traffic feed, there was 'stationary traffic due to all traffic being temporarily held for safety reasons'.

All three emergency services were on the scene, with queues stretching back for around seven miles until it cleared later that evening.

Police added that part of the road was closed after a 'serious road traffic collision', while Oxfordshire County Council said delays were topping 90 minutes.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said it used hydraulic cutting equipment to rescue one passenger of the van successfully and left the scene at about 3.30pm.

Traffic was stretching from near Islip to near Grandpont at just after 2pm, with traffic appearing to be at a standstill, with delays north of the A44 junction appearing to have eased later.
