AN OXFORD MP will be locked up at Oxford Castle in a bid to raise cash for charity which will pay her bail.
Anneliese Dodds is one of nine female 'inmates' who will be picked up on the morning of June 13, loaded into a police van and escorted to the crypt by a prison guard who will lock them up for the day.
The prisoners will be armed with nothing but a phone and a laptop, which they will use to raise £999 each for their bail.
The idea is they plead with local contacts and business to buy their release.
However, it is all for a good cause: the money raised will be donated to Helen and Douglas House hospice for young people.
Last year the same Jail and Bail event was run in September, and raised more than £11,000 for the hospice in one day.
Labour MP for Oxford East Ms Dodds said: “I am raising money for Helen and Douglas House because they do great work supporting local children with a terminal conditions and their families.
“Oxford residents may well be aware that Douglas House, which supported young adults, had to close last year due to a lack of funding.
"I am taking part in the Jail and Bail event to raise money for the hospice and highlight the need for Helen and Douglas House to get appropriate and sustainable statutory funding in the future."

Helen Bedford from the hospice thanked the historic prison adding: “Without this amazing venue and their fantastic staff we would not be able to make this so realistic.”
