A NEW block of flats in Abingdon will pay tribute to the town's past.
Churchill Retirement Living’s new development on Ock Street has been named Albert Lodge, in a nod to the nearby Albert Park and its monument to Prince Albert.
Construction will start soon on the 39 one and two bedroom flats, which will be for older people in the town.
A competition was held by the developer earlier this year asking the community to submit their suggestions.

"We’re delighted to announce that our new collection of apartments in Abingdon will be called Albert Lodge, a name which we felt would link well with the town’s longstanding connection to Prince Albert."
She added: "We hope Albert Lodge will be a place where local people can also do just that, and enjoy their retirement years to the full.”
