SEVEN men have been arrested in connection with a series of vehicle thefts in and around Oxford. 

The incidents took place between April 19 and May 3 where seven vehicles were stolen in seven separate burglaries.

In some instances, the thieves used long sticks to hook car keys through letterboxes at houses in Oxford.

The arrests are as follows:

  • A 19-year old man from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling and theft and released under investigation.
  • A 19-year-old man from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling and theft, and has been bailed until May 29.
  • A 30-year-old man from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling and theft and has been released under investigation.

  • Two 17-year-old boys from Coventry have been arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling and theft and have been bailed until May 29.
  • A 21-year-old man from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of burglary dwelling and theft and released under investigation.
  • A 25-year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling and theft and released under investigation.

Investigating Officer Detective Sergeant Richard Allmond, of Oxford station, said: “We hope that these arrests can provide some form of reassurance to the public in that we always proactively investigate incidents such as this and will work hard to make arrests.
