HEADLEY Way in Headington is scheduled to be closed overnight from tonight until next Friday.
The closure will be in place between London Road and the John Radcliffe Hospital from 7pm until 6am, except during weekends, until May 17.
Access to the hospital and Accident and Emergency will be affected coming from Headington and a diversion will be in place.
Cars needing to get to the John Radcliffe will be have to drive via the ring road, Marsh Lane, Cherwell Drive and Marston Ferry Road.
Pedestrian and cycle access are not affected.
The closure will allow Oxfordshire County Council to resurface the road as part of the Access to Headington.
The scheme, which has been ongoing since October 2016 and aim to improve facilities for pedestrians, public transport and cyclists and will include junction upgrades, improved cycling facilities and pedestrian crossings.
A total of £14.5m is being invested.
According to the council, the work on Headley Way is expected to finish in July 2019, while there are still works to be undertaken on Windmill Road and Old Road.
These are expected to start in the summer and be completed by September 2019.
