AN OXFORD couple who were refused planning permission to put two windows in their house have appealed against the ruling to the Secretary of State.

Mr and Mrs Millard of Bridge Street on Osney Island, West Oxford, had submitted their plans to Oxford City Council as part of their plans to convert their loft into a habitable space.

However the city council refused.

Head of planning Adrian Arnold told the couple the two projecting 'dormer windows' would have an unacceptable impact on the Osney Town Conservation Area.

They have now appealed against the ruling to the Secretary of State.

Their appeal will now be considered in due course.
