May Day Bank Holiday has arrived.

And you may be pleased to know that there's plenty of things happening in Oxford to keep you busy.

Here are just some of the best bank holiday events happening in and around the city this weekend.

  • Perch beer festival 

A newly revamped historic pub is making its final preparations for its ever-popular beer and cider festival today.

The Perch in Binsey will show off its new dining area at the annual three-day event this bank holiday weekend.

It is offering more than 50 different beers, ales, ciders and lagers, most of which are sourced from breweries across Oxfordshire and neighbouring counties.

  • Oxford big beer event at TOAD 

To celebrate the start of Oxford Beer Week, The Oxford Artisan Distillery (TOAD) will be swinging open its doors to fesitval goers wanting to sample beers from the 10 breweries show casing. 

Tickets cost £10 which includes a program, beer map and glass.

Doors will open from 11:30am-3:30pm and then reopen at 4:30pm-8:30pm.

  • Family fun day at new care home in Cumnor 

Tomorrow, the Chawley Grove Care Home will be putting on a host of free activities for children to enjoy, plus a hog roast, beer and wine tastings for the adults.

Information on the services the home offers, like cinema days and over 60's salon days, will be available to chat through with staff.

  • Jousting at Blenheim Palace 

Blenheim Palace will be alive with the thunder of hooves and the clash of lances on shields as it hosts the Knights of Royal England’s Jousting Tournament this weekend.

  • Abingdon air and country show

Aviation enthusiasts will flock to Abingdon Airfield tomorrow for Oxfordshire’s biggest air show of the year.

Spectacular flying displays will take place at the airfield on Sunday, May 5, attracting thousands of visitors.

As well as dramatic entertainment in the sky, there will be plenty to see on the ground, with stalls, activities and static displays, will attract thousands of visitors from 10am.

  • Thame Country Fair 

Punters will enjoy all the fun of the fair as jesters, horseboarders and pedigree dogs will take over the Thame Showground.

It will be the 19th Thame Country Fair which hundreds of people are expected to enjoy traditional country pursuits and sample home-grown produce.

Last year the second day of proceedings was called off because of the heavy rain.

  • Witney colour run

Runners dressed in white will be coated in a rainbow of colours as they run 5k around Witney RFC.

It's the second year the race has been run, and all proceeds raised will go to the Helen & Douglas House

All 500 places on the run have now been booked, but visitors can come along and support the runners who will be starting when the klaxon goes at 11am.
