A NEWLY revamped historic pub is making its final preparations for its ever-popular beer and cider festival.

The Perch in Binsey will show off its new dining area at the three day event this bank holiday weekend.

It is offering more than 50 different beers, ales, ciders and lagers, most of which are sourced from breweries across Oxfordshire and neighbouring counties.

Festival-goers will also be able to enjoy home-cooked snacks as well as the pub's usual restaurant and shed bar menus.

There will be live music on Saturday afternoon and a chance to meet the Hook Norton Brewery shire horses.

General Manager Deirdra McAllister; "We were blessed with amazing weather over the bank holiday last year that ensured our highest attendance for our annual beer festival yet.

"Whilst we can't control what the weather will do this year, we are working hard to ensure a great atmosphere in which our guests enjoy a fantastic selection of beers and ciders from local and regional breweries as they relax in our marquee and garden.”

The 17th century Grade II listed thatched roof pub, a former haunt of Lewis Carroll and Inspector Morse, was shut for the first few months of this year while a pergola was replaced with a new 60 cover dining room.

It marks the start of the third Oxford Beer Week with more events planned across the city.
