OXFORD Brookes University is among the country's 'most notable climbers', according to the latest Complete University Guide rankings.

It climbed 15 places to reach 51st; which Vice-Chancellor Professor Alistair Fitt labelled 'recognition of our upward trajectory and the improvements we continue to make'.

Only four universities increased their ranking position by a greater number.

Professor Fitt said: “This ranking success is recognition of our upward trajectory and the improvements we continue to make. Our students benefit from excellent teaching and support delivered in inspiring campuses, and this accolade is further evidence of the value of studying for a degree at Oxford Brookes.

“Many students are currently considering where to study and I have no doubt that this ranking success will be a further reason to join the Oxford Brookes community and achieve great things.”

In February, Brookes’ was ranked among the 'world's top universities' in 12 subjects by the QS World University Rankings.

It also climbed nine places in the latest Guardian University Guide and 21 places in The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019.

Dr Bernard Kingston, Chair of the Complete University Guide, commented: “The evidence is clear; the increased emphasis, including funding, on employability and career planning within academic departments and student services is bearing fruit.”

Oxford University remained second in today's new rankings.
