Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire using high pressure hosereels to extinguish the flames which had engulfed the whole vehicle and had spread to nearby trees.

Two people in the car were taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service.

A spokesman for SCAS said it sent a rapid response vehicle and two ambulances to the scene.

He added: "There were two patients in the vehicle and neither had sustained serious injuries."

The crash is being investigated by Thames Valley Police.

Crew manager Nik Brown said: “Drivers should always stick to the speed limit and never drive when their concentration could be impaired, for example by drink, drugs or mobile phones.”
