WE MAY, as the popular poem goes, weather the weather whether we like it or not, but Camera Club members certainly know how to turn everything from a misty morning to a sweltering summer day into a spectacular snap.

With such a glorious Easter Bank Holiday weekend, many members submitted images from the recent sunshine for this week’s ‘weather’ theme.

Stand-outs included Blenheim Palace’s ‘Eggstravaganza’ in full swing by Dina Sikorska, and Simon Logan’s image of a toddler holding a bluebell among a sea of the distinctive flowers.

Oxford Mail:

Kevin James Bywater’s snap of his daughter Katherine lying on grass was another favourite, the sun-dappled scene perfectly capturing the mood of many enjoying the good weather.

An extra special touch is the rainbow pattern at the bottom of the image which the photographer created by using a prism, making the multi-coloured flares from below and also reflecting the canopy above.

We also loved Louisa Tucker’s stunning shot of early Easter Sunday morning mist at Wittenham Clumps.

Plenty of members, meanwhile, chose to ignore the current hot weather in favour of highlighting the contrast with colder temperatures.

Some of our favourites included a snap of snow-covered hills in Orkney last winter by Psyona Williams.

Oxford Mail:

Gemma Drew also shared a trio of images of Scotland on the Oxford Mail Camera Club Facebook page, commenting: “The weather helps us create stunning images and capture beautiful moments.”

We particularly enjoyed her shot of snowy mountains with a vibrant clear blue sky at Loch Lomond.

Oxfordshire’s brush with the Beast from the East was also represented in Diane Braggs’ shot of an ice warning sign captured in North Hinksey last March.

Oxford Mail:

Further afield, we loved a dramatic shot of storm clouds brewing over Miami by Bob Sherlock and a sunny spring evening in Amsterdam with the low sun shining on a bike wheel leaning against a canal bridge, by Sharon Allen.

Back across the Pond, we loved the silhouetted buildings against a sunrise in San Francisco by Lesley Murray.

Next week’s theme is pairs.
