THE speed limit for part of an A road will be cut after the county council gave its approval.

A stretch of the A415 between Abingdon and Culham will be reduced to 40mph from the national speed limit.

Thames Valley Police said they were opposed to the change and could see no justification for the reduction.

Culham Parish Council said it initially wanted a 30mph speed limit.

The county council gave the 40mph change the go-ahead yesterday after saying 30mph would have been against national policy.
